Neighbouring countries, Egypt and Sudan officially connected their power grids on Friday 3 April with an initial capacity of 60 megawatts. In a communiqué published at the end of the week, the Egyptian government stated that the line linking the two states was completed in April 2019 with a length of 100 km in Egypt and 70 km in Sudan and that the actual extension of the Egyptian electricity network to the northern regions of Sudan was successfully completed on Friday morning.
