Gambia: Banjul Breweries goes out of business

Banjul Breweries, the only Gambian brewer of beer and soft drinks, has been in a bad way for several years and is about to close down. The information, reported by the local media at the end of last week, confirms the failure of the subsidiary of the French group Castel to revive itself, despite the tax reduction granted to it by the Gambian government last year, reports the daily The Voice. The closure of Banjul Breweries will result in the dismissal of 250 employees.
