Morocco: companies linked to raw materials less affected by the crisis

Published on 22 April, the conclusions of the study by the Moroccan High Commission for Planning (HCP) on the economic consequences of the crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic are final. According to the data provided by the HCP, one company out of nine would have permanently ceased its activities and five out of nine would have temporarily ceased operations. However, the crisis did not affect all sectors in the same way, with the agro-industry (34% of companies closed down), mining (32%) and fishing (24%) being less affected than the hotel and restaurant sectors (89%). Very small enterprises (VSEs) are the most affected, with 72% of them declaring themselves in difficulty, compared with only 2% of large enterprises.
